Machil, July 24 (KNO) : Appealing government to wake up and treat people of Machil as human beings, Peoples United Front (PUF) leaders Dr. Shah Faesal and Er Rasheed Wednesday promised a special attention to far flung areas like Machil, Keran, Karnah and Gurez if voted to power. Concluding their two-day extension tour to Machil, PUF leaders as per a statement issued to KNO addressed gatherings and took stock of sufferings of people of Machil valley. A PUF spokesman said that PUF leaders received a warm welcome everywhere including Machil, Doodi, Ringbala, Ring-Payeen, Duppel, Chakki, Chonthwari, Poshwari, Miserybahak and other places. Summing up the findings of the visit, spokesman said, “It is strange that while state and central Governments have been making tall claims about providing packages to remote and border areas but nothing seems to have changed on the ground and the people of Machil have been forced to a life of back to stone age.” He said the road from Kalaroos to Machil is in shambles and the condition of inter valley roads including Machil Ringbala road and Machil Duppel Road. ‘There is no mobile connectivity. The condition of Schools is worst and the students from remote areas like Ring Bala have to travel even more than 20 kilometers on foot,’ he added. He said that the people of the entire valley have been left at the mercy of army but unfortunately despite providing a helping hand in resolving certain problems, army has preferred to restrict the movement in the area by creating barriers at every nook and corner. “Like Karnah one has to get prior permission before visiting Machil valley as if Machil is not part of J&K. In absence of agriculture and horticulture land, there are least resources of earning livelihood. How can be anything more shameful than the fact that except providing power to two villages for just 3 hour a day, entire valley is awaiting to offer a welcome to electricity since past 70 years,” he said. “At many places the owned lands of inhabitants have been put to the other side of fencing thus rendering this entire land useless. In Ring Payeen where 80% of the population is migrated to the other of LOC, the remaining families are living a miserable life. Government must take a note of Babuism in the valley as the revenue authorities rather providing a helping hand are displaying their power on helpless population and on occasions even do scrap their ration cards”. Spokesman accused successive governments of using Machil just as a vote bank and the height of their performance is visible by dilapidated roads, absence of mobile network, lack of para-medical staff and deficiency of basic amenities. He further said that people in the entire valley offered their full support to PUF leadership and promised a unity of themselves to ensure that PUF gets the mandate to resolve all the miseries of the Machil valley. Spokesman further added that Government must fulfill the demand of providing a tunnel between Kalaroos to Machil as it is a compulsion and the only alternative to overcome even 20ft snow in harsh winters, immediately start mobile phone services and post adequate number of doctors and specialists.(KNO)
